Open Source mp3 Player
obvi… just make an open source mp3 player along with really simple software to drag and drop songs onto the player.
first implementation would be like the shuffle. second would add a screen and equalizer. from there we make it more presentable (solid case/design). make it well with complete open source software and we’d corner that niche market of the “do it yourself but don’t have time to map out circuitry and shit”

Embedded Guitar
we could embed a system into a guitar to control sound, and do other stuff like synth a beat or something.
Web MP3 player
how about a device that connects with WiFi to a server that stores MP3s.
it could play those mp3’s as if it was playing it from a ‘local’ drive, while still being small.

MP3 and GPS
check this out: http://blog.wired.com/music/2007/05/mp3_gps_balance.html
we could make something that interfaces between an MP3 and a GPS that outputs to the headphones.
